How we select tools

Every tool in the directory is evaluated on usefulness, reliability, and a clear use case. We prioritize tools developers can try without friction, no card required where possible. Listings are not paid. For guides, we pick open source tools that developers actually self-host, and document the installation from official sources.

Why we built it

itsez.dev started as a personal bookmark collection. After years of digging through blog posts, HN threads, and Reddit recommendations, we built a catalog that cuts the noise. In 2026 we added server installation guides, step-by-step walkthroughs for self-hosting open source tools, researched from official docs and tested before publishing.
